The Mirant Community Monitoring Group’s website dedicated to the Potomac power plant recounts much of the history between the plant, regulatory authorities and the citizens of Alexandria. This community group was appointed by the Alexandria City Council in 2004 to advise the City and to track the many issues involving the plant.

City of Alexandria Waterfront Small Area Plan

The Potomac power plant lies north of an area currently being rezoned under a small area waterfront plan. On February 26, 2011 Alexandria’s Department of Planning and Zoning released its draft Waterfront Small Area Plan for public review and comment. The plan aims to transition the city’s waterfront into a 21st century sustainable resource.
